Microsoft word update

Hello all,

I keep getting a notice of a security update for microsoft word 2002(kb973444), however the when I attempt to update it always fails. Has microsoft discontinued supporting ms 2002?, if so is there a way I can disable the update notice? I use the program very rarely, so I really do not feel the need to purchase ms 2007,
I am running Windows XP Home

Any ideas?
