My motherboard is a msi n1996. Running windows xp professional 2002 service pack 2. I am hardwired for the internet thru comcast but my computer does not recognize my ethernet or PCI card. I've downloaded drivers for it (realtek 8101L driver) but it now tells me to turn off computer and install PCI card.?? I think my roommate went into the Bios and changed something because before he did i was able to connect thru the direct line. Please help me figure out why it isn't working. Any one ???
I am using wireless internet thru the neighbor temporarily. Thanks.

If windows is finding it, then the BIOS wouldn't have impacted it. I would buy a new network card, and try it. They are under 40 bucks. I recommend buying Intel.
My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

Is your system an HP?
If so, I would get the drivers from the HP website...which don't seem to be the drivers that you attempted to install.
Worth reading, IMO: http://www.osnn.net/windows-desktop-system...otherboard.html.
