Okayy Ive been everywhere from avast help to hp basically everyone. Im hoping someone here can help me fix this problem. okay so about a week ago spyware was on my computer antivirus 2010 so i used malware bytes and it said it got it off. but my computer still resumed to reboot so I said wth and reformatted my computer using the hp disks they had sent me. So I did the first few times I wasnt able to find my network interface card and finally I called hp and they helped me install it correctly. Now my computer is still rebooting every hour or so. I used malwarebytes and it found nothing. I also used avast and hijackthis. Please someone help me out. I will greatly appreciate it. I will include my hijackthis report below. I hope to hear from someone soon.

Btw since my reformat i have not downloaded any spyware that im aware of. sooo i dont know why it keeps doing this.

I use windows xp pro service pac 2

Download BlueScreenView - http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

Double-click BlueScreenView.exe file to run the program.

When scanning is done, Edit/Select All...then File/Save Selected Items. Save the report as BSOD.txt.

Open BSOD.txt in Notepad, copy all content, and paste it into your next reply.

The fact that your system reboots routinely...would seem to not indicate a malware situation, IMO. But we will examine that possibility later, depending on what we find out in your next post. For the time being, I will leave your HJT data intact, rather than removing such. HJT logs are handled in one of our malware forums...rather than move you to one of those, a quick exploration of possibly system issues seems expedient in your case.

If you double-click on it and nothing happens...that indicates that you don't have any .dmp files, which result after BSODs. That is normally a good thing .

That tends to make your reboots...more likely a hardware situation or an overheating situation, IMO.

Your HJT log has been removed, it won't confuse issues.

<<Now my computer is still rebooting every hour or so.>>

No error messages when this happens?

Nothing reflected in Event Viewer to coincide with these reboots?

Any errors which indicate a problem with a hard drive (Disk0, etc.) should be noted, as well.

Disable "Restart on error" feature...

1. Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2. Click the Advanced tab (Vista: click Advanced system settings).
3. Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings to open the Startup and Recovery dialog box.
4. Clear the Automatically restart check box, and click OK the necessary number of times.
5. Restart your computer for the settings to take effect.

You may see some error message. If so, post back what it says.

What did u mean by 'found' your network interface card? Software or hardware? What I mean is if you were inside the case maybe one of the probably two motherboard cables was moved because the wires were in the way. Loose connection?

The cpu heat sink cleaning with canned air may be required if it is a heat issue and just good maintenance anyway. They can collect a lot of dust. While you are dusting check all the power supply unit wires. It could also be a bad connection on your hard disk drive data cable. Loose cables and dust are not uncommon problems.

If you have a volt meter hook it up to an unused molex connecter from your power supply and check the voltages. If it is going this could cause interesting problems- if your PSU has a fan is it spinning and dust free? Using the volt meter for 'seeing' this problem (if it is psu) would be a stroke of luck because you would have to be looking at it before the screen went blank but over or under voltage could be a real problem too.

Do you have a video card? I had blank screens with an ati3450 with one computer- due to heat- I don't remember if it shut down operating system- no error messages either-I took an extra 80 mm fan I had and propped it against the motherboard blowing down on the 'top or back' of the card- worked for years that way and still going for my daughter.

Gotta start somewhere- cleaning and 'checking' rarely hurts.

That reminds me my side vent looks like it is wearing a coat so time for me to clean the home made filters on my 900 and the giant cpu heatsink.

FWIW: Any item marked as "information"...can generally be ignored in Event Viewer. Such normally call for no action by the user.

OTOH, any "error"...needs to be investigated by the user.

The detail for each line item in Event Viewer can be viewed by double-clicking that line item. I would like for you to post the detail (whatever is reflected) for each of the items below.

When is the last time today that your system rebooted?

What were you doing when it rebooted?

Just maybe 15 minutes ago. & it reboots when im watching a video playing a game even when i was replying on this site. I dont know why or even whats causing it to. but since i changed the settings to the reboot setting like brooni suggested now a blue screen comes up telling me that the windows has to shut down becuase of something I mentions that before with the error message.

this certainly is a tricky one.

Let's try the BlueScreenView exercise again...there should be error files which it can now reference.

I doble cliccked the blue screen icon and it opened but nothing happened.

Instead of my computer just shutting off now I get the blue screen saying what I had posted before. & how windows has to shut down so nothing gets damaged.

Do a search (Start/Search), following the instructions given in the link above. The string to use for the search is *.dmp.
