What's the error message you receive?
<<i have 2 other computers running from the same modem,>>
You are connected to the router, not the modem?
Device Manager reflects that the network adapter is properly installed?
You are using the onboard NIC?
System manufacturer and model?
Wired or wireless?

1. Click Start>Run (Start>"Start search" in Vista).
2. Type in (or copy and paste):
cmd /c ping google.com>%temp%\$.$¬epad %temp%\$.$
and press Enter.
3. Notepad will open.
4. Copy all text in Notepad ([Ctrl-A], then [Ctrl-C]), and then post it (paste = [Ctrl-V]) in your next reply.

I have no answer, it seems that many things can cause this. But the following are worth a look, IMO:

@ khutch -
Fully Remove the other 2 computers from the modem - Leave only the one with the problem connected - Go to Cotrol Panel and set it up using Windows Network Setup Wizard as if it was the only computer you had - Check for driver updates (as you did factory install) -
Then try the Ping command when Setup is fully finished -
Thank You -

@ khutch -
AVG uninstaller - If you did this list of uninstallers can remove it for you from RA products - It lists most uninstallers -
@ Broni - Will AVG cause a problem by not uninstalling when you go back to Factory settings ??
Thank You -

Try pinging: 72.14.204.103
You are getting a DNS Issue.
Can you do a ipconfig /all and show us the output from all three computers?
