I have a laptop that will not connect to the internet. It says its connected to my wireless but says "unidentified network". Won't go online. It's a Dell with Vista.

How many network cards do you have, do you have wireless?

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.

It's a friends computer they brought to me because I know to use tech sites. I don't really know anything about it. They bought it used from a friend and were told it worked just fine...which it seems like it does, just get the unidentified network when I try to connect to my wireless signal, same thing when they tried at their house.

clicked on the double computers icon on the task bar. A little box opens and I clicked on connect to a network. Chose my signal from the list and entered my password and it says successfully connected. When I go back to the little double computer icon it says currenty connected to unidentified network.

While on wireless can you do this:

Start > Run > cmd

in the big black box that comes up type in:

ping google.com

And copy and paste what it says.
