Cant connect to internet w/wifi connection! AHHHHHH wifi works but no interenet page pulls up

my neices inspiron 1525 laptop has a wifi connection and hasnt been able to connect to the interenet for a cpl months. the wireless connection works. we had the charter cable guy come out and check it. he said its the computer. for some reason it has a connection but wont pull up the page online. what might that be? hardware issue? Please help! trying to help my sister out with her daughter on this one.

What browser do you use?
Did you try another browser?
Does same thing happen, when you hardwire laptop to the router/modem?

yes i connected it to the ethernet cable and nothing still. internet explorer is the browser. i am wondering what it might be? if someone could point me in the right direction.

Try the following while wireless and wired...
1. Click Start>Run (Start>"Start search" in Vista).
2. Type in (or copy and paste):
cmd /c ping google.com>%temp%\$.$¬epad %temp%\$.$
and press Enter.
3. Notepad will open.
4. Copy all text in Notepad ([Ctrl-A], then [Ctrl-C]), and then post it (paste = [Ctrl-V]) in your next reply.
