Outlook Exress 6 - InBox - New Mail Sound - No Message!

I have 4 or 5 email accounts forwarded to Outlook Express 6.
Several times each day the 'New Mail' sounds - The lower right of the screen says (briefly) New Message - But, there is no new message in the INBOX.
I've gone through the 'sounds' in the Control Panel and 1) turned everything off. 2) turned back on a 'chime' for new mail. 3) Changed the new mail sound several times.
It's like mail is coming in, but I do not have got the 'display' for one of them set up correctly.

I my self have ahd problems with this and have found no solution as of yet, even with outlook 2007.
