Long story short, I was messing around inside my computer while it was on, accidently slipped my finger into the CPU fan, and broke a blade off.
Other than the one blade and sounding different, the fan seems to be working fine, and the heatsink was undamaged.
I will replace it soon, but I'm not sure if it is safe to use in the meantime?
Also, is there some kind of free software that will show CPU heat? I have an AMD processor (at work right now, will post exact specs later if neccesarry).
Advice greatly apreciated.

You may take a look at Core Temp - http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/ as software.
