For the first time ever I am returning a HD of my own.
A Seagate 500GB Momentus. Never been banged around. Used Seatools for DOS 4 times to fix (circumvent) errors. Maybe the idiots at officemax kicked it around a bit...
I've always sworn by Seagate. Am I supposed to start swearing at them?

In my computer repair business I've come across a lot of bad drives but not many from Seagatge unless something bad happened -ever try to fix a laptop that has been run over by a golf cart?
:-)

every manufacturer on occasion will send out a lemon. its possible it was damaged in transport to, no computer part is invincible. I dont tend to stop trusting a brand unless I get and or see lots of bad parts from them, or if I read bad reviews on it and the first part I get doesn't work. For example, I do a lot of computer repairs on computers with ECS and MSI boards that are defective, so as hence, when I look for another board, I avoid those brands. that is an example of seeing multiple bad parts. or, for example I just ordered a openbox ASrock motherboard off newegg that was garenteed to work, but new only had so-so reviews, nothing special. I got the board, and its defective. Now that being said it was openbox, so I have to allow some leeway for that, so I might order from them again, but I will only order brand new (that way theres no leeway for failure) and only if the board in question has a good review rate. there are some other factors, for instance, I tend to like BIOSTAR motherboards for generic, around the house computers (they dont have the cooling necessary for high performance) but Im about to give up on them because I can't get any customer service from them. Good quality only goes so far, if theyre customer service isnt good enough to answer a basic question, then you got to wonder how they will handle it when you do have a lemon you need to replace.
