My HP dv6700 has a wireless receiver on/off switch on the side of it, and I was simply wondering what possible use this could have other then disconnecting one at inopportune times, and if this is a common feature on laptops, or was only for a few, or one, HP? Not really a tech question or anything, just idle curiosity.

I used to have an HP dv6700, and was constantly accidentally turning the internet off. I used to wonder the same thing.

Many laptops have similar switches. This is so you can turn off the wireless radio when you're not using it since they tend to be power-hungry, and hence battery draining.
