after speaking to my ISP, they have told me what the problem is. their router already has DHCP turned on so they assign IPs and when my routers DHCP is on it tried to do the same and they clash. apparently its a known problem to them so they just advised that i switch off DHCP and use static IP. which is what i have already done. i am glad to know that the problem is not with my router tho so its great and im glad that i have rectified the problem.
