I think I have a IFV Version 3.85, but I am when sending emails I am having a bit of trouble
on the other end, I believe that there should be a plugin installed.

I have found this and can only guess that it may be useful;

EMAIL - (version 3.85): allows IrfanView to send images as emails

Does anyone have experience with this program ?

BTW- How to Identify the Version I have, its about 4 yrs, old ??

OK I found a CD I used to file the Plugins, and have found '

irfanview_plugins_400_setup.exe and is 5.96 MB

Would you know is this inclusive of the plugin I need ?

I downloaded the latest plugins and have the email plugin 3.85, . .

but how is it used ?

I have Irfanview 4.25 and the installed email plugin is 3.85. (email.dll).

One method:

Open Irfanview
Load picture
Select Options / Send file by email
Enter info in the dialogue box which appears (didn't work any differently
when settings were entered)

Click on send

It opens your mail program - (OE for me) with everything you have entered
in the dialogue box set up and you then click send, again.

Puts it into your outbox, unless you send automatically.
Then send it.

This assumes that your Irfanview folder in Program Files has a subfolder called Plugins.
If you have downloaded the Irfanview program executable and the Plugins executable,
your folders should be set correctly.

I'm probably missing something here, (most likely), but it's quicker to fire up my email program
than use Irfanview for this purpose.

The Irfanview help is excellent, from the menu bar or F1.

Your heading relates to emailing a slideshow;
I can't see how to attach the .exe file to an email in Irfanview - perhaps someone else knows.
If you are sending a slideshow.exe file to someone, their email program may be blocking it
as an undesirable attachment. Zip it up, before sending, to avoid such problems.

The slideshow .exe files are pure standalone and should work anywhere, with a simple doubleclick.

I sent the attachment, (202kb slideshow) via email, and the recipient was not able to open it, I sent it to my self no problem, . . at first I thought the problem was not having the file association with the slide show but I think not now, after testing by moving the file to another location.

I have since packed one in a zip file to see if that made a difference, but am still waiting for an answer.

Anyway, I thought it would be the email toggle from options but that was greyed out at first,
then I downloaded the plug ins I still have version 4, so that plug in would be the same, at first it stayed grayed out, but it is on now, since I restarted, I think that turned it on.

but I believe that is for sending pictures rather than slide shows, (Got a brain storm), I'll try sending one to my sister who has a laptop here at the house, and see if she can open it.

The email option stays greyed out, if nothing is loaded.
As I said, can't see a way to send an .exe file through that method.

It might be that the recipient must have IfranView installed before the attachment will open as a slideshow.

I have my doubts, . . cause I have just checked another recipient, and opens fine.

The slideshows can be saved as .exe files or .scr files and do not need to be opened with Irfanview.

The executables work on any computer and the .scr screensaver files just need to be placed
where you have the others, in Windows\System32, probably.

Is this going to your aforementioned Chinese pen pal? One thing to consider is that the slideshow may be 'censored' by the Chinese government, if the exact same file opens without issue for another recipient.

Just a thought.

No this is not the same case my penpal, was not able to understand the image host download,

and why or how it all works, so, since then she will get some help to do that on her end.

I have found if I am saving the files (images), that are being used, and they are for example on the desk top, and they are moved to My documents the application will not run the slide show.

Yes I know that the exe. file will work anywhere, what the problem is on that particular PC, I really can't say, but it is possible it is user error ?

You could try creating a self extracting zip file of your slide show. That way it could be opened on the desktop very easily, and minimize user error.
