I am running Xp professional and on start up a window pops up that wants my name and password. Is there a way to get rid of this annoyance. Thanks

Hello Dcrap,

If you go to the control panel in the start menu, click on user accounts, put a check mark in front of Use the welcome screen. This should take care of this issue for you.

Thank you

So if I don't continue with the way it is now I will have to type in my account name? I was using Vista until it self destructed like hundreds of thousands like mine. So I have gone back to the more reliable XP. Guess I'll leave it alone...thanks

Is it possible that you can provide a screen shot of exactly what you are referring to?

To complete a screen capture, press CTRL and Print Screen. Then open MSPaint and paste that in screen cap in there.

This will allow us to see exactly what you're referring to.

If you do a search on google for autologon you might find what you are looking for.
