soslow I see your drive D: as being a second partition on hardrive 0.

What was the format of your origional OS before you formatted the harddrive?

Was it Fat32 or NTFS?

I am curious as to why your drive is set up this way.

Did you origionally have 117 GB set as the primary partitions size and then added another partition to the drive afterwards?

Then formatted the primary partition attempting to preserve the secondary one?

Does your system have a partition size limitation? e.g. Some older BIOSes can't see drives larger than 139 GB.
Please take notice. Oreo and I will not be available until June of 2012.
Thank you for understanding my absence, it is job and college related, so all is good. If I do not answer your PMs this is the reason why. See you all soon!

Bruce.

If I recall right it was NTFS as for why its set up way it was a screw up when i got this lap top it had vista and it sucks so i tried to go back to xp. Any how i had maybe 20 gigs of pics on that partition when this all happened so i thought if i just format C: and reload windows the pics would still be there.

yeah your images are very hard to make out.

Any way your partition D: does not have a format its neither RAW, FAT or NTFS.

I am just curious if one of those UBUNTU Live CDs would allow you to retrieve those pics.

Here's the link https://help.ubuntu.com/community/LiveCD

For more help on that try using the linux / unix forums at http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/forum11.html

OK here we go I right clicked on C: went to property run check disk clicked yes to run at next start up and rebooted, now I can go to add remove programs and can run defrag. Then went to my computer right clicked on D: went property in there it say File system RAW. don't know if this helps or not but thought i would post it.
