 I have a Compaq Evo N800c. Windows Xp Pro. For some strange reason I have lost my wifi? I down loaded drivers from Compaq site. It says card not found? Even down loaded the wifi cards drivers same thing. It shows or has sent and recieved at the bottom of the network connection. But looks like it runs into a little splice box. I tried to use repair,on recovery CD and it said I used the wrong administrators ID? I set that up I know it is right. So It wouldn't repair any thing. Would like to know how to make sure I have the right password.
Any Help Would Be Appreciated... :flowers: :trumpet: :inlove:

Thank You Very Much Davey C Sr

Try pressing the FN+F2 key and see it that re-enables your Wifi Card in your laptop.

Ok. It's very possible that we turned the wireless connection "off" by pressing FN+F2. Please try pressing that key combination once again and let's see if that brings the connection back to life ( without drivers at least ) and give you the "repair" option again.

Also, if and or when it does come back up and once again show in the Device manager, could you please copy and post the Hardware ID ( image below ) of the wireless card so I can help point you to the correct driver and or check that you have the correct driver?

 I do not have a snap shot program! Tell me one to use and I will. I can tell you what I see.
Pressing FN and F2 removed X on connection screen
On Device Manager:
Under network adapters,it has one listing : Intel® PRO/100 VE Network Connection. This has a red X through it!

Under Intel® Pro/100 VE Network Connections Properties,In large box..
under Driver it has Intel® Pro/ 100 VE Connection

Driver Provider Microsoft
Driver Date 7/1/2001
Driver Version 5.41.22.0
Digital Signer: Microsoft windows Component Publisher

Driver Details=in a box
Update Driver=in a Box
Roll Back Driver= in a box
Uninstall=in a box

Hope this helps. Like I stated I don't have a snap shot program..Sorry

Should I try to update driver?
No repair either!
Thank You David C Sr :flowers:

Open the device manager and press ALT-Print Screen.

Now, Open Paint and paste it in there.

You have just made a screen capture.

The network controller you have listed is the "wired" network connection.

Does the wireless not show at all in device manager?

Flip your laptop over and open compartment 2. Inside you should see the wireless card. That card is in a slot that looks like this:

Posted Image

The two metal tabs are what hold the mini-pci card in. Gently spread them apart and the wireless card should pop up at you. Now, take the card and rock it up and down a few times and then re-latch it in. reattach the cover and once again power on your laptop and see if your wireless adapter shows up in the device manager.

That client manager screen was used by Orinico based wireless cards.

As it is showing, as far as it is concerned, you have no wireless card installed in your laptop. After reseating the card as you have done and once again trying the drivers from Compaq, my only other thought would be that your wireless card has given up the ghost. ( it's dead ).

Sorry for the bad news.
