Hello! When I try to open certain programs (Microsoft Office, HP printer programs, etc) on my Vista computer, the system initiates a window that begins as "Windows Installer" and goes through continual status checks. It runs constantly and the "cancel" button in the window does not function - the only way to close the window is through Task Manager. After I close the window, it allows some programs to run (HP printer programs) but Microsoft Office will not function.

Does anyone have some insight into what I can do to fix the problem? I attempted a System Restore, but that even failed to processproperly.

Thanks so much!!
