Windows xp Start Button

When I push the start button it stays stuck in for a period of time then releases. WindowsXP Home Sp3.Can you assist me please?

Are you talking about the button on the front panel of the computer?
It might be a worn/broken spring
You could try carefully spraying a small amount of WD-40 around the button perimeter
The desired way would be to pop the front bezel off and clean/fix it from the inside
