Problem installing Microsoft Framework 3.5 SP 1

My Windows XP has been trying to install the following update for days now:

Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 is a full cumulative update that contains many new features building incrementally upon .NET Framework 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, and includes cumulative servicing updates to the .NET Framework 2.0 and .NET Framework 3.0 subcomponents. The .NET Framework 3.5 Family Update provides important application compatibility updates. This combined Service Pack and update is applicable to .NET versions 2.0 through 3.5.

Every time it runs I get a message saying that it could no be installed.

Any ideas what I can do?

It may be related to the problem you have mentioned in the other post.
