hi all stephens the name and this is my first post,

have an interesting one i hope some pro can figure out. i jus realised yesterday that my device manager is completly empty, like blank, gone without a trace. im currently using a dell xps m1530. is there any way to figure out how to restore it as im nearly sure its affecting other areas of my computer. some examples are one of my games, when i go to start playing it i get the message please insert cd into the cd rom. but its already there. also i do not get the safely remove hardware option on the bottom of my screen anymore when i have a usb device connected. im also having trouble installing a new all in 1 scanner printer, epson stylus sx215, printer is workin fine but the scanner driver software fails to install every time. it installed perfectly on my sisters laptop though. iv tried system restore, virus checks, maleware checks, scan now using command prompt. had no luck. iv done registry checks with registry mechanic and it flagged up three invalid or missing keys. when i go to fix checked instead of fixing them its just ignoring them. is this part of the problem???? iv attached a picture of the registry mechanic errors if it helps

im open to any suggestions at this stage as i think iv tried nearly every thing

id really appriciate some help

regards stephen

edit: iv jus carried out a system health check and recieved these two errors on the second photo

Using registry tools is not recommended as it may make things even worse.

Go Start>Run ("Start Search" in Vista), type in:
sfc /scannow
Click OK (hold CTRL, and SHIFT, hit Enter in Vista).
Have Windows CD/DVD handy (with Vista, most likely, you won't need it).

Is your Plug and Play service turned off (disabled)?

1. Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, and then click OK.
2. Double-click Plug and Play.

If you receive a Configuration Manager message, click OK.

3. In the Startup Type list, click Automatic, and then click OK.
4. Close Services.
5. Reboot
