BleepingComputer.com: Texas Greeting from Melanie

Hello, forum! My name is Melanie, and I have come here seeking help for my computer issues. This is not my first visit to these forums but it is my first time to register.

I'm a self-taught computer user, picking up more advanced skills after my first awful experience with tech support 8 or 9 years ago. I decided I was never going to rely on overseas "Dave" again and spent my time learning from people who knew what they were talking about. Since then, I've been able to solve all of my own issues.

Until now.

So, I have spent some recent hours looking over the pages here and at Major Geeks (hope that isn't a bad word around here) and I painstakingly backed up all my precious files on CD-Rom (ick), and now I'm hoping that I'll learn a little more from the experts here.

Beyond all that, I'm just a normal everyday woman deep in the heart of Texas who really needs her computer to get anything done. I'm normally an editor, a publisher for a couple of web sites and an active volunteer. Austin is a great city for being active in the community.
