Disk defragmenter not showing before and after panels

Hello, I have an IBM T43 with XP PRO.

I have just tried to run the Disk Defragmenter and only getting an empty panel for "estimated disk usage before defragmention" and the same for "after".

The red blue green white buttons are are all showing. I ran it successfully two months ago so I am wondering what might be wrong and how to fix.

Any advice would be helpful.
