BleepingComputer.com: I have the BSOD

I have the blue screen and after several attempts to recover, Windows will not open.
I am getting this error message: ***stop: 0x0000007e(0x0000005,0x8050D532,0xF8B4D3B8,0xf*b4d0b4)

I don't know what to do, please help!

Thank you but I did not update my windows XP before this error happened. How do I check the disk?

7E STOP errors can be caused by just about anything.

Any system changes (new hardware, new software) or indications of trouble before the 7E error message?

System manufacturer and model?

To run a check of the hard drive, you need access to the XP Recovery Console. You will want to use the chkdsk /r command.

My son updated itunes and I was in the process of removing online protection from at&t so I could download McAfee protection. Thank you so much for your help, I am going to go home and use all the information I have in hand. I will report back ASAP.

and M.$ can still slap on patches upon shut-down without your permission.

I do not even trust them to obey the option "Turn Off Automatic Updates",
so I delete Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Downloads\* before I shut-down.
