BleepingComputer.com: prevention

First of all I would like to thank the people on this site who give solutions to problems, you do a great job! Several times I have been infected with a virus that kept Malwarebytes from updating or even running at all. I am wondering if there is a way to prevent this from happening in the future. Maybe some sort of security setting or prompt that would let me know something is trying to change things?

If you know what you are doing, you can use a program that monitors registry and file changes such as Spybot Search and Destroy or the Defense+ feature that is included with Comodo Firewall. I say "only i you know what you are doing" because Spybot monitors ALL changes to the registry, and Comodo monitors some changes to the registry, as well as files, but a lot of the changes are legitimate and blocking the changes can result in many different issues. I believe Threatfire may also be useful to you, as it adds protection against zero-day malware by using behavioral detection.
