hello again,

i recently installed windows vista on my laptop using an HP recovery disk. my problem is that the HP recovery disk is very automated and format's and installs all on its own. I'm not able to set partitions and the factory disk reset keeps only allocating 24 gb to the operating system partition. this is not enough room as it keeps filling up fast. i tried to expand the partition using disk management but it wont allow me to expand the operating system partition. I can create a new partition and utilize my whole drive but my OS partition keeps filling up fast after updates and such. any ideas on how to expand the operating system partition in Vista?? or, how can I bypass the automated setup to have more control of my format / setup with the HP Vista recovery disk??

any help is appreciated ...

thanks

coby

when you get to the disc management screen, there should be an option that says create custom partition.

Hello

From what I understand the unallocated space must be next to the drive you are trying to extend...

Say you are trying to extend C: then the only space you can use would be D: ..

Is the unallocated space directly to the right of C: in disk management??

How much space does your D: have?

How much unallocated space do you have and where is it?

Can you post a screenshot of disk management?

hope this helps... good luck

the extension of the c: drive worked in the command prompt disk management but not in the disk management under administrative options. case closed, thanks everyone

hope this helps... good luck
