Recently random popups have been opening in new tabs on my computer, OR I do a google search, click on a link, and an advertisement of some sort opens instead of the link I selected.

Here is what I have done so far to try and remove it:

1) Installed and ran Registry Mechanic

2) Installed and ran Malware Bytes

3) Installed and ran Combofix

After all of this, I'm still have the same problem, especially when I go to google and select a link. Any ideas on how to fix this and how to prevent it from happening in the future?

I am a computer neophyte so I appreciate the help!!!!!!

Thank you all!

First of all: NEVER use Combofix again without the directions and instructions of one of the malware removal experts here. NEVER.

Second: Sounds like your browser has been hijacked. CLICK HERE and follow the steps and then do what the malware person who addresses your problem says to do.

Third: Get a chalk board and write "I will NEVER use combofix again by myself" 500 times on it.
