Hello Everbody,
This is my first post. I have a Compaq SR 1720nx that I am fixing for a freind. I want to do a reload of the OS but the backup has all them darn preloads on them!
Is there any way I can load without putting all the preloads? or I have a new copy of Windows XP that i bought for a problem at work. Can I load that disk or will i
have problems? I have the knowledge to load and get running. What I am worried about is after the format will windows load? i remember that I had a problem
on a HP that required HP recovery Which s the best? I do't want all the preloads so that is why i want to do a new install. Thanks

Both ways have pluses and minuses.
Using recovery CD you're getting back all preinstalled crap, which you have to uninstall. You don't have to worry about drivers though.
Using Windows CD, you have a very clean install, but you may need to install some drivers.
