Help
i have an old laptop i will replace when i can - but untill then would it work slower or the same if i took my internal HDD out and put my external HDD in.
would i have to remove my current files on my external?

well, there are some variables here. Im assuming the laptop is IDE, so is the hard drive in the external IDE as well? also, laptop drives are smaller (even the IDE interface is different) then a normal hard drive. assuming they are compatible, again, it would depend largely on how fast the hard drive spins. If the internal drive spins at 3200 rpm and external one at 5400 rpm there might be a little bit of a difference, though not much. If it is to be your primary drive you will have to reformat the external and install the operating system on it. In all honestly, I dont't see you gaining much performance from doing that, youd be better off with a memory upgrade.
