BleepingComputer.com: ASSERT FAILED and ddcmigrate.exe - Application Error

I downloaded Windows Internet Explorer 8 and now when I restart my computer I get the following error messages.

ASSERT FAILED ProjectswtKernelsrcWin32cmCorecmCodeModule.cpp:90 m_CodeHandle != NULL

and when I close that error message this one shows.

ddcmigrate.exe - Application Error
The application failed to initialize properly (0x80000003). Click on OK to terminate the application

These error messages appear several times.

I also discovered that my Norton Internet Security will not come up. When I click on the icon a blank screen will display. I have not been able to run it manually. That has me concerned. It should be running automatically but I don't think it is.

I saw a previous post with someone having the same problem I am. The response was to reinstall Internet Explorer 8 which I did. That did not resolve the issue. I also ran Malaware bytes Anti-Malware. It found 400 infected objects which I removed. That also did not solve the problem.

Does anyone know of anything else I can try?
