Today I reinstalled Windows XP Pro on a computer. The process went fine until I restarted the computer. Now the computer will boot up until the Welcome screen then automatically restarts. What could cause this?

Clean install...or just a reinstall over whatever was there before...hoping that a reinstall would fix whatever was wrong?
Why the urge to reinstall?

The computer kept crashing often, so I reinstalled windows, deleteing all of the old files.

Did you delete the partition...and then create a new one while installing XP?
Did you check the hard drive for problems, either before or after?
System manufacturer and model, please?

I deleted the partition and created a new one. The harddrive doesn't seem to have any problems, I connected it to another computer as slave and could open the files.

Sooo...you can access the files (or at least see them) from another system...but you can't boot into XP.
You may want to take a look at Logon, Logoff Loop - http://thinkinginpixels.com/quick-fixes/fi...onlog-off-loop/
You didn't happen to write down any of the error messages you previously received, did you?
