network.http.pipelining What is it?

Scanning the contents of YouTube i found a guide that claims this will speed up Firefox.
type in about:config
go to network.http.pipelining and change it to True
go to network.http.pipelining.maxrequests and change to 10

Now, im not in the habit of blindly trusting youtube vids, so i wonder if anyone knows what this does (in moderate gibberish, because i do know a little bit about programming and such, a little) and if it could compromise the computers security.

I have seen a video like that or maybe I read it somewhere. It has to do with how many times the browser requests the info from a server or something like that. And no it won't compromise the security.

Here is a link to some Firefox tweaks. I hate the name of it cause the moron calls them hacks but they are just tweaks to the configuration of Firefox.
