I am on an HP Pavilion a610n Desktop, running XP SP3 Home Edition. The problem that I am having is whenever I try to access Disk Management thru right clicking "My Computer -> Manage -> Disk Management", my system shows "Connecting to Logical Disk Manager service" for about a minute. I then get a popup that says: "Server Execution failed", and " Unable to connect to Logical Disk Manager Service". I opened the Event Viewer -> Systems link and found the error "The server {4FB6BB00-3347-11D0-B40A-00AA005FF586} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout." I went into Start-> Run-> regedit and initiated a find from the My Computer entry for "4FB6BB00-3347-11D0-B40A-00AA005FF586" and found out it referred to the Logical Disk Manager Administrative Service.
I went into Start-> Run-> Services.msc and found that DCOM Server, Logical Disk Manager, and Logical Disk Manager Administrative Services were all started and set to Automatic. I have searched Forums, Blogs, Support sites, and I cannot find a resolution to this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have had a number of viruses on this PC. I never tried using Disk Manager before, so I don't know when it broke. I need it now, because I have a Seagate External HDD that my computer is not recognizing.
Thanks Much for your time and assistance.
