emachines EL1200 XP Home

Computer had Anitivirus Live. Ran SUPERAnitSpyware Portable and Windows Malicious Removal Tool and various threats were removed. Malwarebytes will install but gives error 730 when attempting to run.

The problem now is really that after plugging into the router the network connection still says it's unplugged. Hardware mangler shows the adapter working fine and the port light is green. There's also what looks to be activity on the other light as well.

This computer is used on dial-up Netzero. I haven't tested that yet but I expect it's fine but how do I fix the network connection? I turned off Windows Firewall and there is nothing else running. I'm in Safe Mode with networking.

Error 730 seems to be an indication that the Malwarebytes database failed to update properly. I would try installing/updating/running same again.

I suggest that you keep your firewall on.
