I have windows XP on my computer. I have been getting annoying balloon screens coming from right side of the taskbar. How can get rid of all balloon screens from showing up. Thank you very much. Murrar

Can you be more descriptive? Any messages contained in them? You give us little to guess with. What are you doing when they appear?

They say things like: The software you are trying to install cannot be installed, even though I am not installing anything. Murrar

Try this: Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloa...ppowertoys.mspx and download Tweak UI (size 147KB) ver.2.10.0.0
Installon your computer. Open program and click on :Taskbar and Start Menu" Uncheck "enable balloon tips" click on apply and exit.

Since these are not balloons that are appearing when you are doing something that would cause them to appear, I doubt that disabling the balloon tips is what you need to do. There is a setting in XP (I think I remember seeing it) to do that without using a different program, but again, I do not believe that is the desired thing. Doing that will disable all balloon tips and you might want those.
The ones you are having happen when you are not doing anything to cause them sound more like a malware situation.
