So the Lenovo rep tells me to first interchange the two sticks of RAM and if the computer still acts the way it does, he says they will send me new RAM as part of the warranty.

What do they mean by interchange, since you probably have 1 stick?
Unless they told you, you have 2x2GB?

So apparently I have 2x2GB RAM. Does this refute what the results of the memtest showed?

No. That means, that most likely just one stick is bad (very minimal chance, both are bad), so now, you're in better shape, because you have options.
You need that screwdriver though....LOL
You need to remove 1 stick and run computer on one stick (Vista will work perfectly fine on 2GB) for a day, or so.
If the computer works fine, swap sticks and run computer on 2nd stick for a day, or so.
You'll see, which stick will give you BSOD.

Well I ended up opening the bay and there are two sticks and I got Lenovo to send me replacement RAM sticks. I just hope the reason for my computer crashing was the RAM so that the problem can get fixed. For now, I switched the sticks and put them in opposite ports so I'll get around to testing each individually tomorrow.

Switching sticks, most likely, won't do anything.

Yeah that's what I thought. But when the two new RAM sticks come in, I have to ship out the two RAM sticks I have now or else I'm gonna be charged.

I understand, but until they come, you can determine, which stick is bad, so you can remove it and run the laptop without BSODs.

I did as you said and am running on one RAM stick right now. The first RAM stick led my computer to crash again so hopefully the RAM stick that I'm using now will work til the replacement ones come. But I was wondering if I should run the memtest again on each individual RAM stick. Wouldn't that show me which or if both RAM sticks are faulty?

No. Right now, you're running REAL test.
memtest is a software test and it's not always 100% accurate.
Surely, if you have some free time on hand, you can run memtest, while only ONE RAM stick is installed.
So far, it looks like the first stick is faulty.

Alright. I hope you're right. If my computer crashes again, do you think it's cause something other than the RAM is wrong? I hate to play the "if" game but I just have an uneasy feeling.

That's why, it's very important for you to run computer on one stick, before your new RAM arrives.
If the computer runs fine on the stick, it's been running fine since yesterday (I assume), then you know the answer.
Stick #1 is bad.

Gotcha. I've been running on the 2nd stick for about two hours and all's good for now.

I keep my fingers crossed, it'll stay that way.
Hopefully, we fixed something, what Lenovo techs couldn't.....LOL

How long after your computer is on does it start to bsod? Heat can cause issues with ram, and produce false positives in the reports. I have experienced this, and the cause was a poorly mounted heatsink and dust in the fins.

My work schedule is as follows: Mon and Tues 1800 to 0600, Friday - Sunday 1800EST to 0600, and Wednesday to Thursday 1800est to 0600. So if I do not respond right away I am at work.
