I am trying to determine the model of the HHD for this Dell Inspiron 9300 Laptop,
After running Diagnostics I found that; DST Short Status Failed or it says it passed but is still waiting for DST completion when all stops and I get; No Diagnostic Utility Partition Found I get a BSOD when trying to boot ; CONFIG_LIST_FAILED (0x00000001,0xc000017D,0x00000005, 0xF9B96cc0 I don't have a CD to Boot off of, but I'd like to test the Hard drive, I can not boot the OS, it gets as far as the WXP Icon window, . . nothing else has worked etc. I changed the BIOS to load defaults, can I, or should I leave it that way. It isn't my PC I'm helping a friend. I recently read that 99% of the time the DST halt during diagnostics meand a fried HD but I am getting alot of diffuse info for the BSOD number. The battery light seems not to stop blinking might that be a symptom ? Speaking of Hard drives,
I have two PC's I'm working on, one is a DELL tower and the other is the DELL Inspiron Laptop that I can not get to boot, . . so I assume that you sent this to me for the Laptop, Can you tell me is there a CD that I can burn from an online source, that would test the Hard Drive for me, cause it was suggested that I use Ubuntu but that looks a little complex with that UNix stuff, . . There is No Floppy Drive for this PC. or possible that information I need is here in this thread ?
