Hard drive not recognized

Hard drive not recognized, Compaq 5284 no longer sees OEM hard driv

New Member Group: Members Posts: 1 Joined: 22-March 05 Member No.: 15,051	I have an old Compaq5284 and recently started to have problems with the hard drive. The computer used to recognize the hard drive, but it would not boot. If I used a boot disk I could at least access the files. Now the computer does not even recognize the disk. I have since found another hard drive an started over. Everything works fine with the new hard drive. When I plug in the old hard drive again, I get message saying there is no devices attached to the computer. I have plugged in the hard drive in all the different channels with no effect and like I said it is the OEM drive (Quantum Bigfoot TS 19.2GB) and it worked before. Should I just pitch this hard drive or is there something else I can try? Thanks, Jon
