Help
Really quick question regarding s-video output/input - wanted to ask before buying s-video cable, incase it won't work...
My laptop PC (Compaq Presario v5209us) is equipped with an s-video output. My 36" JVC television is equipped with s-video input(s).
Is this just as simple as getting an s-video cord, plugging it into PC & TV and then I can use my television as the monitor?

S-video will give you pretty bad quality.
Is your TV LCD type?

Unfortunately no, Its a tube type TV, made in 2002. It does NOT have VGA inputs.
So, it *would* work to use s-video, but it will be poor quality?

Yes, it'll work.
Regular CRT monitor has pretty low resolution, so don't expect any miracles

The picture is great when watching movies and video clips, etc. I use netflix watch instantly and it seems to be equal to DVD quality. Also, youtube videos and perhaps music videos on VH1.com are pretty good quality on my TV. (Thru my laptop s-video)
When trying to read emails, or perhaps using bleepingcomputer is difficult because the text is somewhat hard to read.

CRT TV monitor resolution is only 720x576 (PAL, 486 for NTSC). In reality, due to some other limitations, vertical resolution is reduced to about 85% of the original number, so instead of 576, it really is only 480.
