BleepingComputer.com: Overclock Problems

Hey BC ^_^

recently i have been interested in over clocking my computer from 2.2Ghz to 2.4Ghz (all i would need to do is change the multiplier from 11x to 12x).

my motherboard is a strange one and no OC software seems to detect it. :@

i have overclocked my GPU as follows

Core Clock from 600 - 780Mhz
Memory Clock from 400 - 500Mhz

Heat is not a problem as i have 2 internal cooling fans that glow blue and keep it very cool. (sexy )

is there a OC software that will see my motherboard?

also... i cannot change any settings in my BIOS as it doesn't allow cpu speed changes.

If you have a retail brand computer, chances are you will not be able to
Many have their BIOS programmed in such a way that you cannot do that
If this is a custom made machine, you should refer to the motherboard manual

ahhh i see, well thats pretty darn annoying :@

and yeh i have a packard bell pc but considering it was pretty cheap for the specs i am pretty happy with it anyway

if i was to flash my BIOS would that unlock the CPU clock speed?

Flashing the BIOS can be risky. Also many OEMs have custom BIOS available only through them. BIOS updates are designed to address known problems. Inability to OC is not considered a problem.

Besides, a .2 increase will do nothing for you in noticeable performance. And could potentially decrease the life of you hardware.

You may want to monitor temps with what you have done. Air cooling is capable of doing the job, but, there are other factors to figure in. Case design\size, internal airflow = cables, wires obstructing the flow. Other heat producing hardware = hard drive(s), memory, CD\DVD drive if used regularly, CFM rating of the installed fans. Room temperature can have an effect as well.
