BleepingComputer.com: Reformatted XP Pro

After some frustrating issues I decided it would be best to save my files to a usb drive and reformat. Everything went well and was relatively quick and nothing seemed to be having problems except my network connection. When I checked under network connections, I cannot find any way to connect not even after plugging directly into the modem. I've noticed the wireless icon is not lit on my display and the function keys will not turn it on. When I checked device manager the card was no where to be found. There is not a switch on the outside to turn the card off and on. Not sure if it means anything but there are lights near the ethernet cord that turn on (one solid green one flickering orange) when plugged in. If anyone has an idea of what to try I'd much appreciate the advice.

Sorry for the jumbled post, I've been at it for a while and will be going to sleep. Might not get a chance to check back here for a while but thought it wouldn't harm anything to put up the post for help. I will come back to close the topic if a fix does come up.

What kind of CD did you use to reinstall Windows?

Ah ok I think I figured out where you're going with this. I didn't notice it before (as it has been a long time since I've had to reformat) but it is an upgrade disc. Could that be the problem? If so would installing windows 98 and then upgrading work?

You did OK with upgrade CD, but you may have some drivers missing.
Travel here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss...itestyle=lenovo, select your Thinkpad model, download and install chipset driver and wireless adapter driver (in that order).
