I just bought a new mother board from newwegg.com correct socket but my current processor is a P4 845GV the board is for an 848P, will my processor work with new motherboard or will I have to exchange? I have heard newegg.com is very good about exchanges

I forgot earlier the new motherboard is an ECS 848P-A v2.0 it is intended to replace the existing ione in my Dell Dimension 2400

I think you should be ok. According to this,

QUOTE

FSB 800/ 533/ 400MHz


Your current CPU can use the 533MHz bus speed so you should be rocking. These Motherboards are generally backwards compatible.
