SATA

SATA Drive not found

When I turn on my computer I get two things on the black screen.

1. Drive 1 not found: Serial ATA, SATA 1
2. Drive 3 not found: Serial ATA, SATA 3

I am able to get to Windows as long as I keep pressing F1 to continue. I have done everything I could to solve the issue.
Pleae help.

I would check all connections on the drives mentioned.

How many drives are installed in the system?

I would also check the system BIOS...to see if the hard drive recognition and boot settings are correct.

I would also check to see if any RAID settings are improperly set.

System manufacturer and model?

If all of the settings in the BIOS are correct...I would replace the CMOS battery.

Looks as if the BIOS is looking for two dries that may have been there once and have been removed. have you checked the BIOS settings?

Can you give me the steps and what do I need to look for to check the BIOS? I am no genius in computers, but I can do most problems.

My Bios is updated. what next?

I would not have updated the BIOS...not sure where that came from.

The link was provided as instructions for checking the BIOS settings.

You should check two things. first all of the SATA ports on the motherboard are numbered. Sometimes on the board sometimes in the manual. know what ports your two drives are on. According to what the message is telling you it is expecting to find a drive on port1 and 3 but nothing is there. Enter the BIOS and check the drive settings to be sure there is no drives manually set for those two ports. If there are switch them to auto or disabled then save the bios settings and let the computer reboot. hopefully that will do the trick
