There are a few folders and files on my computer that I would like to password protect. Is there any software available to enable me to do this?

I've done a search on google and found a few to download but am always wary about downloading software I am unfamiliar with and I've not found much available to buy.

Thanks

Have you looked in Freeware Replacements For Common Commercial Apps pinned at the top of this forum?

If not, take a look in that thread and scroll down to File Encryption.

Just remember to keep the password somewhere where you will remember it
If you loose it we cannot help you get it back

The type of thing I was really looking for is like I have on my mobile phone (SmartGuard) - a programme that is passworded, that then gives me access to all the files and folders on my phone and I can select either a whole folder or individual files to "hide". These folders/files are then only accessible through SmartGuard by entering the password.

I found this online Hide Folders and other similar software but would like to know if anyone has used it or anything similar.
