Read the blog on the HOME page about COMBOFIX. Is it safe to use it now?

This will answer your question and then some, rearding all things ComboFix that we are allowed to discuss with the authors permission. See this Link: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic273628.html

As long as the tool is available at the two links mentioned with the link, it is considered safe by the author.

I'll start at the begining. AVG identified the following virus C:\windows\system32\win.exe[3628]\memory_00400000 virus identified EXPLOIT.MS04-011 and C:\windows\system32\win.exe virus identified EXPLOIT.MS04-011. AVG fines it, say it has healed it, but it is still there. I tried SPYBOT and got no results. Tried McAfee's STINGER, after backing up my system to and external hard drive, then shut down restore points, ran stinger, problem not fixed. Went to tech-forum and was recommended to run COMBOFIX, MALWAREBYTES and HIJACKTHIS and submitte logs. I really want to keep my system clean, what should I do?

You have posted a request for help here and you already received assistance instructions.

Please refrain from asking for help from others while you are being instructed by someone helping you with a hijackthis log elsewhere. Any modifications you make can result in system changes which may not show it the log you may have already have created and plan to post. Further, following advice outside of that post may cause confusion for the Helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer. If you had posted your log here, similar rules would apply. We would ask that you refrain from asking for help elsewhere.

If you followed any other advice already, please ensure you inform the HJT Helper when they respond to assist you with your log. This will help them know what has been done and they probably will ask for an updated log.

To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic. If you still need assistance after your log has been reviewed and you have been cleared, please start a new topic. If you have any questions, please PM any moderator.

Thanks for your cooperation.
