Hi,
I am in need of a new system. I built my present system quite a few years ago and it has done me well. I haven’t been keeping up with the latest tech specs and am considering buying a prebuilt system. Something from Best Buy like:

Or
http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/proddetail.a...amp;catid=20217
Here is my Purchase Template:
My budget for the new computer is: $1500
What are the primary uses for this computer (IE: mail, web browsing, programming, games, etc)? Emailing, Web Browsing, HD video camera processing (nothing extensive, basically downloading and organizing onto DVD’s for storage), Photo Editing.
What software do you intend on using on the computer? CS2, Nero 7 Premium, Something to handle the processing of the HD Video.
Do you play games? If so, what type of games? No
Do you tend to have a lot of programs running at the same time, or do you close every program when you are done using it? Not right now (system can’t handle it) would be nice to be able to use IE for web browsing while processing videos.
Do you store a lot of pictures or music on the computer? I have a 1.5 Ext hard drive for storage and backups.
I read in your forms that the Quad cores like the I7’s, that I mentioned above, are an overkill unless you are a gamer but would it be too much considering the video editing I am planning on doing?
I am not afraid to do a major upgrade on my present system but I believe that just about everything except the tower itself (a MSI monster at 24” high. ) would have to be replaced and I think these are some good deals at Best Buy. Here are some of my specs from my Sys info
OS Name Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition
System Manufacturer D850GB
System Model GB85010A
Processor x86 Family 15 Model 0 Stepping 7 GenuineIntel ~1495 Mhz
Total Physical Memory 1,024.00 MB
Your opinion on the brand and the hardware I require to do this type of work is appreciated. Do you suggest posting this to your System Building and Upgrading form and going that route?
Tom
