Wiped computer/reinstalled XP service pack 2 driver help

Okay, I gave up on my dern computer and wiped it clean getting rid of the pesky malware issues. But now, I've reinstalled XP service pack 2 and realized that the driver disk have is for a Dell. My desktop is not a Dell, it was actually "made" by my mothers exboyfriend. So, I need to install the drivers for internet, sound ect. I am aware I can get all the drivers I need once I have an internet connection. Any ideas on how to get an internet driver for this hodge podge computer?!?!? Network adapters: 1394 Net Adapter, no IP address when ipconfig is ran.

In Device Manager right click on the Network Adapter and select Properties, then click on the Details tab, then on Hardware ID in the dropdown box. It should be in this format "PCI\VEN_4444&DEV_0016&SUBSYS_40090070&REV_01"

Post back what you find.

No details tab under main networ adapter tab. Sub tab "1394 net adapter" had a hardware I'd of V1394\NIC1394.

Nope, nothing else. It just has XP operating system loaded. I have none of the drivers or extra cd's to load. I have a Dell laptop driver CD, but it won't load since the desktop is not a Dell.

The 1394 net adapter is a "Firewire" connection.

How does your computer connect to the internet? Does it use an Ethernet connection? Or USB? Or something else?

Before I wiped it, I used a plug and play wireless adapter. But I have it hooked up directly via ethernet from modem to computer. And I've already checked with my provider, and everything is fine.

Try using SIW to see if you can find out more information about your Network Adapters.

Now it's showing Wan Miniport (PPPOE), 1394 Net Adapter, WAN Miniport (PPTP), Direct Parallel, Wan Miniport (IP), Wan miniport (L2TP), Wan Miniport (IP)

But none match the above Hardware I'd you mentioned.

These are the hardware I'd's for the 5 extra adapters present under SIW.

Ms_l2tpminiport, ms_pppoeminiport, ms_pschedmp, ms_ptiminiport, ms_ndiswanip

I'm pretty sure I need drivers. The only thing I loaded onto the computer was XP service pack 2. I have no driver disks to load. I just don't know how to get them since I can't get online.

Can you go into Device Manager and get a screen shot of your Network Devices that looks similar to this and post it please?

I took a screen shot via my BB camera, but I can't load it on the site. I am responding via my BB since I have no internet service on my desktop.

I noticed you said you have Dell Drivers and such but your computer is not a Dell.

Can you tell us what the make and model are of your computer?

If it was a Custom Build, might you possibly have the Motherboard Model Number?

Can you push the Photo to imageshack or photobucket or some other image sharing site?
