When I power up my PC i get a black screen that states WINDOWS COULD NOT START BECAUSE THE FOLLOWING FILE IS MISSING OR CORRUPT. WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM. YOU CAN ATTEMPT TO REPAIR THIS FILE BY STARTING WINDOWS SETUP USING THE ORIGINAL SETUP CD-ROM, SELECT 'R' AT THE FIRST SCREEN TO REPAIR. I have tried the How Do I Repair A Missing Or Corrupt Windows\System32\Conf\System File method and it wont work. I have a DELL computer and DELL did not send a Windows XP setup disc with the computer. I do have a Gateway Windows XP Setup disc but it won't run on a DELL. Can anyone help me please? Thanks K

See this:

You can create your own Recovery Console disk with this file:

You must burn this file to a CD as an ISO. Post back if you need more information on how to do this.

This could also be the beginning of the death of your hard drive if the error is caused by corrupt sectors.
