I have a D-link wireless internet device. Sometimes the computer searches for my programs and gets stuck on the searching flashlight. When this occurs, I can be online one minute and if I close it and come back and try to open it doesn't open. Occasionally I've tried to shut down and a message says something like firefox is running, or trying to close, not really sure. Don't know where to start trying to fix this. ...
Thanks in advance!

IME...the searching flashlight appears when there is a problem of some sort with Windows finding files.
For me...this happens most often when there is something wrong with a drive which I have connected and it doesn't necessarily have to be the drive I am trying to access which creates the problem.
I would search Event Viewer for any errors indicating a problem with "Disk0, Disk1, etc." and then proceed from there.

But..it seems that that there various other causes for this.

Appears to me that Event Viewer would be the best tool of choice, at this time.
