Yeah, it's the simplest solution, but most everybody hates to do it. I need to do a clean install soon to clear out some little buggy things on mine, too (but I need Microsoft Word afterward). I would do it now, but I don't have fast internet to update everything (curse you, dial-up!!).

Best of luck to you.

Well ... it seems now that I deleted Firefox it's runnign a bit smoother. I mean, it still says page can not be displayed and address not valid once in a while, the browser doesnt halt. I ra na virus scan and it showed Firefox gave me a trojan virus. But it still doesnt work properly. Is that my adapter going bad

Yes, most likely your internet adapter is going bad (wireless card). However, I wouldn't rule out a clean install fixing your problem. Buggy things like this can be hard to nail down.

But I could narrow it down to those two things: bad adapter (you could try unscrewing the case and unplugging/replugging the wifi card) that need replacing, or a reinstall.

You said you've already tried reinstalling your browsers, right? If not, try that.

Can your programs update themselves? (i.e. anti-virus and other programs that check for updates) If not, then it is most likely your adapter. If they can, then it's your browsers...

Everything I have is auto-update and I usually do the update about once a week or once a day to make sure it's up to date and I've re-installed Firefox and IE a couple times already and I did a virus scan yesterday and found out the latest Firefox gave me a trojan, so I deleted it and my internet browser (IE) is working fine for now anyways. I hope it isnt a one day fix. It's just doing the Page Can Not Be Displayed now and I reload and it brings up the page.

Where did you download Firefox from that you believe it gave you a trojan? What program showed those results?

I just formatted it cause the trojan virus I had, I must not have caught in time. A lot of my files were missing that weren't missing before and I downloaded it from the official website and MalWarebytes found it and so did AVG. I got tired of messign with it, so formatted the computer

I'm not sure if you have the new version of AVG (9) but I was having the same issues you were. I've disabled my Link Scanner and haven't had any problems since. I'm not sure if it's an AVG issue or AVG with Zone Alarm or whatever---all I know is that I can now use my computer again

Oh that's cool. I'm glad that worked. It's probably an AVG issue. But if it fixed your computer, that's cool. So I'll now deactivate that, even though I re-installed everything, it still might be wise to do that.
