BleepingComputer.com: computer won't boot up

i'm writing this post on my console as my laptop won't task at all

my laptop has a virus identifying itself as trojan worm win32NetSky
first the warning comes on that my system is infected
then my home screen comes up
then a screen pops up saying "Internet Security 2010 " and it starts scanning. i've turned the system off at this point each time - one time it had an offer to purchase the Internet Security 2010 (with microsoft coloring and format btw) for $49.95 and i declined.

I get the same events in safe mode
i tried to go into system restore but it will not let me into anything.

i have files backed up but not the system.
Does someone in this forum have a suggestion on how to proceed?
Some guidance ?

The Secret to a good reformat and reinstall of Windows is to make sure you have exactly what is needed before you start, then it is smooth as silk.

Once Windows reformats the Drive there is no Pop Ups.

Should take about 35 mins, then there is more, before you actually go online with that Machine, Mate.

You will need Basic Protection for Virus, Spyware and Malware. I can recommend some Free ones for you to Download and burn to a CD to have ready to install, if you want?

Once Basically Protected you will need to have SP2 and SP3 installed. they can also be downloaded from M$ and burnt onto a CD, to be ready, if you don't already have them.

After that it is off to Windows Update, there download and Install ALL crital Updates, except for Internet Explorer 8, that one is better left alone for now. You need to keep returning there until you get ALL the Updates, it will eventually tell you that there is no more. Then it is a matter of undating your Virus, Spyware, Malware Protectors.

After that it is just a bit of fine tuning to get a smooth working Machine.

Thanks everyone for your much needed help. Sounds like better to try and remove the virus as the other sounds very techy and not my bright spot. So am first thing this am still trying the 'Remove ACP Protect" tutorial (for the malware) fresh brain this am might help. running my avg scan first to see if that helps. should i be on another forum for treating the virus?

spyware are generally known as computer woes, so if your computer is infected by spyware you have to reinstall operating system. some persons fall to the mistake of installing an antivirus software on an already infected system, never try this it is not recommended or safe. To solve your problem you need a OS reinstallation CD.

are you saying what i have is spyware? is there a difference between malware and spyware? thanks much?
