yea i true but in my case iv only just installed KIS so last time when i first noticed the problem i was using Avast. So its happening with both Avast and KIS & also with SOS and without SOS (had to uninstall SOS when i installed KIS).

EDIT sorry for double post, browser got stuck when posting :-/

I forgot to thank you guys for your time and suggestions with this fix - thank-you ;) MBAM forums seem to indicate that turning off the "IP Protection" (not the Real Time Protection) solves this issue....

Not sure if I'm satisfied with this fix because - wouldn't we WANT the IP Protection??

Thanks again and good luck!

hi,,,, avast is an anti virus and will not clash with a real time malware app,, where as an all rounder like KIS or NIS (norton) and McAfee will as these programs carry real time malware protection as well,,, can you also tell me what SOS is please,,, sorry to sound dumb

well no Avast would not affect Mbam thats why i stated that Mbam was first showing problems when i only had Avast installed.

SOS is SuperAntiSpyware
Thx for your time,
Jack.

HI,,, i do remember an issue with the real time ip protection but the made a fix for it,,, it was blocking every site so you had to turn it off,,, but this is when it was first added to mbam,,,, i dont remember it ramping up the cpu,,,, lets hope it works,,,,
SAS = Superantispyware,,, i thought you ment that but was not sure
jack,,, im wondering if the pc use to have NIS (norton) or McAfee on it as a 3 month trial ??? i have known people who have moved over to other security apps and the cpu shot up for no apparent reason,,,, then they discovered that to remove all traces of NIS and Mc they had to use the removal tools as bits left over from the windows uninstaller were causing issues with the new security,,, just a thought.

No soz , not in this case.

But im really not so worried now , i found that if you turn off all the ip protection and real time protection & dont have Mbam rum at startup i can still have Mbam installed and use it for scans. its just when i enable the real time protections the problem occurs & even turning them off again dont fix it until i reboot comp.

So i shall just leave it as it is for now, thx for all the help.
Thx for your time,
Jack.
